FACES - Fudan
In September 2005, two FACES '05 delegates Shelley Ling and Ken Ding started a FACES Chapter at Fudan University. Sharing the FACES vision of promoting dialogue and mutual understanding between Chinese and American students, FACES-Fudan is dedicated to enhancing Chinese and American students' understanding of U.S.-China relations in areas such as economics, politics, society and culture.
With the help and guidance of Professor Shen Dingli, Director of the American Research Center at Fudan University, Shelley and Ken began a major publicity campaign in the fall of 2005. FACES-Fudan was an instant success, attracting over eighty applications for twenty-four officer positions and attaining a student membership of over four hundred within the first few months.
Over the past year, FACES-Fudan has hosted a kickoff event commemorating their establishment, five public lectures, and several other informal events at Fudan University. The opening ceremony featured a keynote speech by Mr. James Green, Government Relations Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. The public lectures provided Fudan students a forum in which to discuss issues ranging from the impact of China's population growth on U.S.-China relations to the effects of the capitalization of China's financial market. FACES-Fudan brought in speakers for these events from the United States Congress and the American Consulate in Shanghai as well as inviting distinguished faculty members from Fudan University.
As the first chapter in Shanghai, FACES-Fudan helped co-organize Part II of On Common Ground 2006. Under the leadership of President Christine Fung and Vice-President Cinderella Chen, FACES-Fudan proudly hosted FACES' first Shanghai conference from November 12th to November 18th, 2006.
FACES - Peking University
FACES Peking University Chapter was founded in March 2005 by a group of former FACES PKU delegates, under the support of Office of International Relations of Peking University. Sharing the same vision of FACES to promote dialogue and mutual understanding between Chinese and American students, FACES-PKU Chapter is dedicated to facilitating in-depth exchanges in economic, political and cultural topics among the Chinese and American students in Peking University and in the Beijing region. The chapter has established partnership with the Student International Communication Association (SICA) and the Stanford OSP program in Peking University.
As the first FACES chapter established in China, FACES-PKU hosted and co-organized Part II of FACES first annual Chinese conference, On Common Ground 2004, and On Common Ground 2005 from November 13 to November 19.
FACES - Renmin University
FACES Renmin University Chapter was founded in the autumn of 2005 by a group of Renmin University students who shared the same wish of promoting mutual understanding between Chinese and American college students.
Renmin University of China has always been one of the leading universities in China for the 70 years. As a distinguished student organization focusing on Sino-U.S. relations, FACES has attracted talents from many different faculties and schools within the university.
The members of FACES-Renmin excel in various areas. They are ISC-Symposium awardees at St. Gallen University, Switzerland; HPAIR delegates at Harvard University; Exchange students at the University of Hong Kong, and interns at multi-national corporations such as Ernst & Young, BCG, ABN Amro, etc.
In addition to these gifted individuals, we have recruited many officers into our chapter with an eye for their social connections, both within and outside the campus.
During the year of the university's 70th Anniversary, FACES-Renmin was recently awarded the honor of hosting and co-organizing Part II of FACES annual Chinese conference On Common Ground 2007.
