Michaela is the Executive Director of the Language Access Coalition whose mission is to advance language access for vulnerable communities, in response to today’s pressing community needs for intercultural communication. She also serves as the Chair for Constitutional Reform on the board of DePaul’s Anthropological Student Association. Originally from Manchester, England, his academic interests focus on Sino-Soviet and Sino-Russian relations, as well as media studies and cultural diplomacy. He has served as co-president of the Princeton U.S. China Coalition, and was a participant on Princeton’s Bridge Year Program, where he spent a year volunteering at an after-school centre and learning Mandarin in Kunming, China. Through the Critical Language Scholarship for Chinese, she became interested in how the relationship between the United States and China affects health care in both countries. Participating in Princeton's Global Governance Forum on US-China relations introduced her to the role diplomacy could play in furthering medical innovation and collaboration, and she is excited to continue learning more about diplomacy through the FACES summit. After graduation, she will be attending medical school. I am invested in learning more about the intersection of economic growth and security between the United States and China within the context of continental integration in Asia. I am currently exploring this topic through interning at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo’s Economic Section. I have also researched economic developments in Asia with the Business Council for International Understanding, maritime security and strategic investment in the Indo-Pacific with the National Defense University, and energy trends with the Baker Institute for Public Policy’s Center for Energy Studies. Outside of academics, I am an active member of my local Japanese-American Citizens League chapter and the Rice Asian Studies Organization.
